Well, GEN Odierno did it. He is Army Chief of Staff. I guess he didn't mess up Iraq as badly as I thought he would when he became MNF-I commander. However, I still believe he shouldn't have been given the chance to rise beyond MG based on his performance as a division commander. GEN Odierno, you are lucky. If a young lieutenant or captain screwed up like you did as a two-star general, he most definitely wouldn't have had the chance to become Army Chief of Staff.
