Separation Anxiety As U.S. Prepares To Leave Sadr City

We will soon see if the unit status reports done on the readiness of the Iraqi Police and Iraqi Army were in fact done truthfully. Are these units ready? Will they be able to hold a fragile Iraq together? Have battalion, brigade, and division commanders been fudging the readiness numbers because good numbers look good on powerpoint slides? I think that will be the case...

Unfortunately, not many military officers came up with innovative ideas like Major Colvin did in season three of The Wire. I am not saying the same type of operation would have worked in Iraq, I am just saying it was very innovative and effective. Bureaucracies preach that they value "outside the box" thinking, but in fact they really do not. Here is a clip:
