Army Sergeant Pleads Guilty to Murder in Iraqi Prisoner Deaths

This is truly a sad story. An obviously fast-tracking 27-year-old E-7 pleads guilty to murder... my question is where were the officers? Could it be that the Army Officer Corps consists of mustangs who are not what we would consider scholars, athletes, and leaders, three qualities that usually are present in good officers? Could it be that there are a majority of officers of the LT Calley mold that allow atrocities to happen, perhaps even encourage them?
